Description

Post/social/isms an ephemera conference

The almost 30-year history of postsocialism has largely eluded organization theory. The unfettered expansion of neoliberalism as a theory of the post-social has benefitted from and been pronounced to be vindicated by the collapse of the former eastern bloc. This makes it timely to consider what has happened with (post)socialist organizations, the accompanying translational flows of broadly ‘western’ concepts of management and organizing, coupled with the flow of FDI into the postsocialist region and its accommodating waves of privatization. Building on the 2015 ephemera conference in Moscow around the theme of ‘emergence’, this year’s conference asks participants to reflect on what has emerged during arguably the biggest socio-political change of the late-20th century. We invite papers that in addressing ‘post/social/isms’ explore and extend the links between postsocialism, the post-social, and theory and politics in organization.
